Dwayne Johnson on wanting to portray Black Adam: 'I have just loved that backstory'

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Dwayne Johnson has revealed why he wants to portray DC Comics villain Black Adam as part of Warner Bros. DC extended universe.

"I have loved the role of Black Adam. I love that he starts off as a slave, that he felt like he was wronged," the actor detailed during a YouTube Q&A Tuesday where he took fan's questions on his Seven Bucks Digital Studios page.

"I have just loved that backstory. I think that Black Adam has always been, to me, the most intriguing superhero."

Other highlights from the clip include Johnson saying his favorite WWE matches were the ones he won and that having two daughters has been "the greatest blessing in my life."

The comments come after Johnson sent fans into a frenzy over the holidays when he posed for a photo with Superman star Henry Cavill.

Johnson is set to appear as Black Adam, the nemesis of Justice League member Captain Marvel in DC and Warner Bros.Shazam! which is slated for release April 5, 2019.
