Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Police in Illinois said they were called to the side of a city street to help out an overweight raccoon that managed to get itself wedged halfway out of a sewer grate.
The Zion Police Department said Officer K. Vaughn responded Thursday to a roadside sewer grate in Zion where a stuck raccoon had been spotted.
"It seems this little guy has been eating a little too well and got caught in the sewer grate," the police department said.
The police officer and an animal control officer who responded to the scene were unable to free the raccoon, leading them to summon help from the city Public Works Department.
"They were able to free him and our friend was no worse for wear," the department said.
