LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Everything is earned in the big leagues.
Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig is figuring that out in brutal fashion lately. After his team tried to shop him for a trade, it ended up acquiring Josh Reddick.
Reddick is expected to take over right field duties for the Dodgers, putting Puig's playing time in limbo.
Puig, 25, is owed $5.5 million this season and is signed through 2018. He is hitting .260 this season, with just seven home runs and 34 RBI.
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal wrote Monday that Puig "stormed off after arriving at Dodger Stadium and being informed that he would either be traded or sent to the minors, according to major-league sources."
The non-waiver deadline was at 4 p.m. Puig's home run numbers have decreased each season since his rookie year in 2013. His batting average has also slipped each season. Puig did not travel with the Dodgers to Denver as it prepares for a three game series against the Colorado Rockies.
