Bengals cornerback Adam Jones pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing police stemming from his Jan. 3 arrest for an altercation at a hotel in downtown Cincinnati.
Jones, 33, had two other misdemeanor charges -- disorderly conduct and assault and harassment with a bodily substance after spitting on a jail nurse -- dropped as part of a plea agreement.
He was credited with time served after spending two days in jail.
"I'd like to apologize for my actions that night, to the police officer, that is not an example of me or how I want my kids to see me," Jones said in court Tuesday after being recorded telling his arresting officer from the back of a police car "I hope you die tomorrow."
"I truly apologize for what I did, for my actions. I'm trying to get better every day."
Jones is undergoing anger management classes and is still subject to possible NFL discipline for the incident.
"We have been monitoring developments in this matter, which continues to be reviewed under the personal conduct policy," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN.com. "We have no timetable on any potential discipline."
Jones, who is heading into his 11th NFL season, had 66 tackles, one interception, seven passes defensed and one forced fumble in 16 games last season with the Bengals.
