July 4 (UPI) -- Marvin Bagley III got a taste of what NBA competition looks like Saturday when he tried to defend DeMar DeRozan.
Bagley, the No. 1 ranked player in the class of 2018, is participating in the Drew League in South Central, Los Angeles. DeRozan was repping MHP and showing off one of the smoothest midrange game in the NBA.
In one play, the Toronto Raptors star took a full court pass and faced up the 18-year-old. He got Bagley off balance with several crossovers, before backing him into the rim and forcing him into the air with a shot fake. DeRozan ducked under the prized recruit and softly finished a shot. He tossed the ball back to Bagley, who was still on the ground from being faked-out.
DeRozan, a three-time NBA All-Star, dropped several more sick sequences with his ball handling and shooting stroke.
Bagley had 32 points in the contest. He has offers from Arizona, Duke, Kentucky, UCLA and USC.

DeRozan, 27, is 4 inches shorter than Bagley. He averaged a career-best 27.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game last season for the Raptors. DeRozan is making more than $27.7 million annually through 2020.
MHP lost the weekend contest 108-91 to LAUNFD.
