Adrian Peterson works out with Jameis Winston

March 29 (UPI) -- This offseason has been unpredictably quiet for seven-time Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson.

Despite being linked to numerous teams and being just two seasons removed from leading the NFL in rushing and rushing touchdowns, the decorated free agent has yet to land anywhere.

So when pictures surfaced this week of the former Minnesota Vikings star working out with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, you couldn't help but wonder if Peterson is interested in taking his talents to Florida.

Learned the extremes that Michael & Kobe were willing to go from arguably the greatest trainer of all time from Tim Grover. Watched a proud, high-powered All-Star (Adrian Peterson) train like a rookie trying to make a team. Most of all, witnessed a young 22 yr old quarterback lead a group of NFL vets like a 5-star general. Today was a DAY! #HowCoolIsThis #SlayOn

In fact, Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter was asked about the workout during an owner's meeting Wednesday. He responded with a smirk on his face and said he wanted to ask Winston about Peterson, according to reports. Former All-Pro Doug Martin is currently topping the Buccaneers' depth chart at running back but is suspended for the first three games of the 2017 season and is coming off of a down year.

On Tuesday, the duo posed for photos with Winston's quarterback coach George Whitfield and conditioning coach Tim Grover in Houston. The duo was later spotted hanging out with DeSean Jackson, a Buccaneers offseason acquisition, as well as James Harden, Mike Evans, Trent Williams, and Lou Williams at a club in Houston.

"I've seen Adrian Peterson many times — one of the best running backs to ever play," Koetter said, via ESPN. "I'm anxious to talk to Jameis and ask him about how his workouts went."

This is how we go to the next level. You don't have to prove anyone wrong, just prove yourself right. @Jaboowins @AdrianPeterson #relentless https://t.co/9Na9KrN8hy

Peterson, 32, was due $18 million next season before being cut this month by the Vikings. Speculation has swirled that the reason Peterson has yet to sign is tied to his high asking price. Peterson has denied reports that he is requesting more than $8 million annually.
