MEMPHIS, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Police in Tennessee confirmed there was only one object found unharmed in a car that caught fire and exploded: a Holy Bible.
Witnesses said the 2014 Jeep Laredo went off the road Sunday afternoon on Interstate 385 near Memphis and the witnesses helped Memphis Police Department K9 Officer Richard Morrow free the motorist, who was pinned against the steering wheel.
The rescuers said they threw water on the man to keep the flames engulfing the SUV from burning him and they were able to free the driver moments an explosion.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and police found a nearly untouched object on the passenger seat: a Holy Bible.
"That is god," witness Eugene McNeil told WMC-TV. "If you don't believe it, I don't know what to say."
